Anti Gorkhaland stir in Delhi now

SILIGURI, Nov. 4: The members of two Siliguri based Bengali nationalist body ~ the ‘Bangla O Bangla Bhasa Bachao Committee’ and the ‘Jana Chetena’, today left for Delhi to participate in an anti-Gorkhaland demonstration in New Delhi on 7 November.
The demonstration to be held at Jantar Mantar in the national capital is being organised by the ‘Bharatiya Banglabhasi Mahasabha’ ~ an all India body of the Bengali speaking populace.

The six-hour long stir, which is likely to be attended by representatives of several Bengali nationalist bodies from across India, would commence at 10 a.m. Both the Bachao Committee and the Jana Chetena delegations led by Dr Mukundo Mazumder and Dr DP Kar respectively, left for Delhi by train from the New Jalpaiguri station in Siliguri.

Another team of Jana Chetena members would also leave for Delhi tomorrow. “While everybody is speaking about the recent attack of Biharis by Raj Thackery's MNS in Mumbai, no reference is being made to the near 100 Bengali boys from Asansol and Nadia in West Bengal who too were assaulted along with the Bihari youths. We would raise all such issues and demand the ban of such organisations,” Dr Kar said.
