The Regional Transport Authority’s counter here has collected about Rs 4 lakh in the past three days after its office reopened after nearly 10 months.
However, the state government has decided not to penalise transporters for defaulting on taxes, which could not be deposited since April because of a non-cooperation movement by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha that had shut down the RTA office.
