I N Pradhan wife Deepa Pradhan gets bail

Kurseong, Jan. 28: Mrs Deepa Pradhan, wife of arrested GNLF leader and former DGHC councillor Mr IN Pradhan, was released on bail by the additional chief judicial magistrate court here today.

Mrs Pradhan was arrested from her Ghayabari residence, on the night of 22 January under the Arms Act. She was charged under Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act for allegedly possessing firearms and ammunition without license. A double barrel shotgun, a revolver and a total of 16 cartridges were recovered from her.
According to her associates, her lawyer moved the bail petition today before the additional chief judicial magistrate, Kurseong and she was released on bail around 3:30 p.m. Mrs Pradhan had been sent to jail custody on 23 January following a court order.

A large number of GNLF supporters were present in the court premises during the hearing today. Her husband Mr IN Pradhan, who had surrendered and was arrested at Sukna on 25 January is still under medical treatment at a Siliguri nursing home.
Confirming Mrs Pradhan's release on bail, the GNLF, Kurseong branch, general secretary, Mr N B Khawas, said that they have not moved the bail petition for Mr Pradhan as yet. Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha supporters had filed an FIR alleging that Mr Pradhan had fired at their supporters during the clash on the night of 22 January between GJMM and GNLF supporters at Ghayabari. Mr Pradhan was arrested under Section 307 IPC, attempt to murder and 326, hurting and assaulting.
