Gangtok, Sikkim Jan. 23: The Pawan Chamling administration in Sikkim has reacted strongly against the proposed bandh in the mountain state on 26 January sponsored by the National People’s Party of Sikkim, demanding Mr Chamling’s resignation from the chief minister’s chair on the dual citizenship issue.
The BJP north-east in-charge Mr Harendra Prasad created ripples recently by alleging that Mr Chamling enjoyed citizenship of two nations - Nepal and India. The chief minister and his party have rebuffed the allegation but the NPPS was quick to seize the initiative and called for a bandh in Sikkim on 26 January on the issue. MORE...
