Gangtok: The Supreme Court on 25th March, 2010, dismissed Writ Petition (Civil) No. 353 of 2006 of Kunga Nima Lepcha & Ors (Petitioners) against State of Sikkiim & Ors. (Respondents).
The verdict was received with much jubilation and celebration from the time the news broke out in Sikkim. Shri Pawan Chamling, Chief Minister, Sikkim, was felicitated by offering khada and garlands by large number of people and various associations, namely, Sikkim Tamang Buddhist Association, All Sikkim Sunuwar (Mukhia) Association, All Sikkim Mangar Association, All Rai Kirat Association, Tibetan Association, Limboo Literary Society, Government Employees Association, Drivers' Association, C & D Grade Employees Association, Muslim Association, Bar Council, Degree College Association, Bihari Jagran Manch, Nepali Sahitya Parishad, a number of Self Help Groups, Zilla and Gram Panchayats.
