Lady murders her cousin as a sequel to a quarrel in Sikkim

Namchi: In a shocking incident a lady killed her cousin brother in a small hamlet in South Sikkim. Pemkith Lepcha (50) wife of Phur Tshering Lepcha of Mungrang, Sumbuk, South Sikkim, murdered her first cousin Lah Tshering Lepcha (48), son of Late Chomchit Lepcha of Mungrang, South Sikkim.

According to SP South GK Verma the cause of this murder is believed to be the prolonged property dispute between the two families. SP Mr. Verma informed that following the property dispute between the accused and the deceased the quarrel between them was going on. On Monday, 22nd March, the deceased Lah Tshering entered the kitchen of the accused Pemkith Lepcha in fully drunken state at around 9 pm when every body in the house was going to bed while the accused wwas doing the works left in the kitchen after taking dinner. A heated discussion ensued between the two following which the accused Pemkith hit the deceased with the firewood in his head for three-four times making him unconscious on the spot. The lady went to bed leaving the victim in the kitchen and without informing her husband. Tuesday morning only she informed her husband about the incident of the previous night, following which the husband of the accused checked the kitchen and found the deceased lying on the floor.

He then informed the police and a police investigating team from Jorethang PS reached the spot and found the dead body. A case has been registered under section 302 of IPC and investigation started by the police, SP informed, adding, the accused is mother of two children.
