Bimal Gurung has decided to convene an all party meeting in Darjeeling to get a candidate of his party’s choice endorsed from all quarters of the hills.
The move suggests that the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha is aware that the elections this time will be fought solely on the pro and anti-Gorkhaland plank. The party will, however, not field any candidate from its own outfit.
Gurung, the Morcha chief, said: “This time the issue is about Gorkhaland and I think everyone should come forward for a particular candidate. We should not be bothered about the individual or the party. I will be convening an all party meeting before I leave for Delhi on March 16 or 17 to discuss this.” MORE...
