‘Paralyse’ threat to cops in hills

The student wing of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha has threatened to “paralyse” the police force in the hills unless security is provided to Gorkhas appearing for board exams in the Dooars this year.

“Admit cards of many of our supporters’ kin have been burnt or destroyed. The students are not secure in the Dooars. We demand that the police take steps to help them sit for the examinations. We want some concrete assurance from the government before February 18,” said Keshav Raj Pokhrel, the general secretary, Gorkha Janmukti Vidyarathi Morcha.

“If the police continue to act as CPM cadres, we will paralyse their movement in the hills. We will also hold demonstrations in front of all the police stations of the hills,” he added. MORE...
