Noted social worker Ms Medha Patkar today met the leadership of the Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad and the Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha at Banarhat and Gorubathan respectively and succeeded in earning some concessions from them towards restoring peace in the region.
The Terai-Dooars Coordination Committee president of the Ahkil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad, Mr Rajesh Lakra today said that his organisation was ready for talks with the Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha if the latter dropped the claim to include the Teari and the Dooars in its proposed Gorkhaland demand.
