In an event held outside the state, Maskey-Kunwar pair bagged gold for Sikkim. Last year the same pair had brought laurels for the state at the badminton tournament held at Siliguri. This time the pair participated in the Invitational Kalimpong Open Veterans Badminton Tournament 2009 organized by Bats Club, Kalimpong, in which the events included above 40 doubles and above 50 doubles. Players from Sikkim, Darjeeling, Kurseong, Kalimpong and other parts of West Bengal, took part in the tournament held from 6th to 8th February 2009.
