Darjeeling, March 6: The “fee” for joining the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha is Rs 5,001 and villagers who cannot pay the amount are being ostracized, the CPM has alleged.
K.B. Watter, a district secretariat member of the CPM, today said the diktats were issued by the Morcha to his party supporters in the Badamtam, Liza Hill, Singtom and Pokhriabong tea gardens.
“They were told to pay Rs 5,001 and join the Morcha. Posters have come up in Badamtam, where our supporters have been threatened with social boycott if they were unwilling to comply,” the CPM leader alleged.
Social boycott has been the norm for quite some time in the hills with most of the GNLF leaders being ostracised by the “people” of the respective localities.
Posters announcing social boycott had been put by the janata (people) against GNLF leaders like Gopimaya Gurung in Ghoom-Jorebungalow in the past.
The Morcha, however, has denied that the party has anything to do with either the “membership fee” or the boycott drive.
“But, yes, local units have not allowed certain people from the villages to join the Morcha. This is because when these people were in power, they had threatened our supporters. The Morcha was then in its initial days,” said Binay Tamang, the press and publicity secretary of the newly formed party.
“No directive on any sort of fees for enrolment or social boycott has been issued by the central committee. But if anybody is found collecting money, the party will take stern action against him or her,” said Tamang.
The CPM has also accused the Morcha of adopting undemocratic practices. “Why is Ghisingh being denied entry to the Darjeeling hills? It is his democratic right to stay wherever he wants to. The Morcha is scared of Ghisingh’s political acumen,” said Watter.
Roshan Giri, the general secretary of the Morcha who is currently in Delhi, said over the phone that there was nothing “scary about a leader without mass support”. He stressed that it was the “people” who were denying Ghisingh entry to Darjeeling.
“We have categorically told them that Gorkhaland is the only solution for the people of the hills, Dooars and Terai region,” said Giri.

the cpm allegation on morcha is not futile. its true - a membership fee is to be paid (really don't know how much) and the social boycott is 101% true and is one of the strategies of the morcha.

Answer to above:
Bimal Gurung himself has proclaimed in some Nepali newspapers that 'He will not let Ghisingh enter the hills' n now Roshan Giri says that the public is doing it - on whose directions? Bimal Gurung's direction - so its the morcha that is barring ghisingh from entering the hills.

But isn't this monopoly of the morcha units against democractic right to choose a political party of an individual? Even if you want to join morcha they are denied. What should they do then - commit suicides?

Answer:
Roshan Giri was the most hated creature becuase of his Agsu philosophy of racism and today he is a hero. Yes, Gorkhaland is the solution to the hills, but my question is, what settlement you had with the state govt.? Ghisingh and sixth schedule weighs much low in comparison to the Gorkhaland demand. Why are the two unimportant factors being giving so much attention when the real attention should have been given to the gorkhand issue. Did you open a dialogue for gorkhaland with the state or center when you met them - none of you have done so far. Please don't fool the people promising one thing (gorkhaland) when actually aiming for the defunct council which even Ghisingh had dissolved it.
I am sure these morcha people will go for the elections. Morcha has made the life of state govt. easy. They neither had to confer sixth schedule nor gorkhaland, but put old wine in a new bottle as Mamta Banerjee has said. Please morcha, don't die for the defunct DGHC. If it was so, then why did you harrass the people if you could deliver nothing new, but just the oust of ghisingh. The only difference will be that Tukvar guys will get richer with the contracts and bimal who was doing a 2 crore contract previously will start doing 20 crore contract. When we ponder - you and me will be the same bastards who will keep on getting victimized by such fucked up politicians.
Lastly, if morcha is really for the gorkhaland issue, they will never contest the elections. I have heard that after getting on the chairman's chair will cry for gorkhaland - how can he do a political demand while administering a govt. body. This will be a act of anti national feeling.
Now I am hearing that after ghisingh steps down from the chair, he will revive the gorkhaland issue - well that is good because he too is in for gorkhaland now. One thing - can we all, all political parties unite as one and work towards the goal. It seems that all have the same demand and uniting shouldn't be a problem. Now that morcha has gained the innocent people's support, will they agree to the above. One thing i can forcast is that there will be individual party feuds and the gorkhaland issue will occupy a minor place superseded by their egos.
